alicia keys – you don’t know my name
this is probably one of my favorite music videos. especially the part where they’re at the house party and she’s rockin rough and tough with her afro puffs. in regards to her acting, i think that musicians can find it easy to transfer into film, using their same experience as a performer. however, i don’t think that all musicians can successfully act – as in, taking roles that aren’t modeled for them. right now all i can think of are rappers, but most i’ve seen (luda, xzibit, cube, mos, common, et al) are usually ‘that black guy’. (though luda has shown some decent pickings.) it’s hard for them to get a role that isn’t so stereotypical, and when that actually does happen, it’s going to make or break their cinematic endeavors. (the last few things mos def has done were bad, bad, bad.) maybe it’s just a problem of not enough films wanting to do that, or maybe they’re content with just being themselves on screen. but anyway alicia keys was foine in smokin aces.
other goodies:
better late than never. been on the myspace for a few months.
the video to this song is so great. plus when is the new outkast gonna drop, it should be fucking bananas on bananas. all these songs andre’s been on lately are like major teasers for their own shit.
