TbTotW. another karaoke(노래방) heavy hitter. i’ll have to append it to my must-sing songs, since i just recently remembered it. there are actually many songs on The Dude that are very karaoke worthy.
+ i’m back from new york! and it was beautiful. i really really liked it, and, work permitting, i think i’d like to see what it’s like to move out there – atleast for a year or so. the fact that everything is so close in proximity and reachable by foot or subway is making me very interested. granted, i do love driving my car.. but i think i can forego the enjoyment of open road with the ease of public transportation and actual exercise. for me, the turning point was hitting union square last saturday, when it was nice and hot and everyone was out – the park was full of people just chilling the fuck out, hanging out just because they could. l.a. could never do that. i fell in love from that point on. in so much that a rectangle can be a square but a square cannot be a rectangle, i feel like angelenos can enjoy new york but new yorkers can’t enjoy los angeles – i won’t bother listing specific reasons, but i’ve spoken to a few people that echo this sentiment. i think 90% of the people i met up with there were cali transplants, which isn’t really indicative of anything but that birds of a feather flock together, but it is interesting to see that so many cali heads are in ny.
i was able to drive through a section of upstate new york coming back from niagara falls – rolling green hills, bare purple trees, quaint small towns, and the smell of horseshit. like i’ve explained before, i love to drive, and i love to drive roads i’ve never been on. upstate is breathtaking.
the whole ‘no last call’ thing is also interesting. i would usually leave that 2am forced exit as the checkpoint in the night, that if we aren’t hitting freds right after, then i can go home and get some rest before work. i was at apt one night and we were there until maybe 3:30ish? and then hit the diner and then i walked home. fun times, but i’d probably hate that situation if i had to wake up early the next day. (also re: apt, saw dj scribe – mind blown! amazing set by amazing dude!)
i didn’t really meet anyone that gave me stinkeye or was generally an ass – everyone, even strangers asked for directions, were graciously hospitable and friendly. i don’t know if l.a. people are as affable.
i have a lot more observations i’d like to speak about, but i’ll save them for my flickr – for which the next week or so i’ll be updating with pics i took during my trip – either 35mm or 120mm or some digital steez (i had a point and shoot for the trip, it was a fun return to digital shooting for a little bit), and i’ll try to attach important descriptions.
+ i was on evr! mini set and words temporarily here. the setup in the evr booth is weird.. the tables are pretty far apart. but the mirrors are a good look.
+ i missed my recap for last month. but i think each time i wrote it, i was reaching for tracks that i’d listened to for each four week period, effectively winging each post as it came – something that’s not exactly genuine to my listening trends. so, no more recaps. i’ll stick to making 8track mixes in the mid month to reflect shit i’m into. but just let it be known that, at all times, i am listening to 90s r&b/new jack, 90s house, 80s house/disco, and instrumentals.

okay, so i didn’t read this post (yet), but i’m a fan of yours and i know how you love brandy. you gotta see this cover, siik!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5h04CuaEr4
