Well. Since we last spoke, my music hard drive had just failed, and I quickly rushed to a data recovery place in Irvine to see what magic they could do. What I thought would take two-ish weeks actually took them about a month and some, the whole time my hope of recovering my files dwindling with each passing day. Their final assessment was delivered to me last week: 34% of the drive was able to be recovered, no guarantee on about 6% of that 34%, and definitely all over the place – most likely bits and fragments of albums. It would have cost me something upwards of 2 g’s, so no thanks. However! I found out a friend of mine had backed up almost my whole drive to his some time in 2008, so thankfully I don’t have to start from scratch. Anything I acquired between then and now I’ll simply (ha! simply!) have to scour again and redownload. Ahem, purchase. However However! Anything that I made-mixes or blends-between then and now and is not on the site is definitely long gone. I had a few blends that I’d made and never put up, and now they’re floating somewhere in corrupt hard drive heaven. C’est la mort.

sorry to read.
the same thing happened to me earlier this year. i back up everything on an external hard drive now. :(
yup. i keep everything on externals as well, but now i’ve got backups of those too. backs on backs on backs.
The same thing just happened to me. That’s really too bad. Your mixes are amazing.
hey you’re not the only one on that. I too had my hd wiped out once, luckily i managed to save at least half of my files but then started from scratch which sucks ass. lesson learned always back up everything on an external hd. its a good thing that I still have your mixes siik.
