that new jack
this is the mix that i’ve been wanting to make for a long time. i LOVE new jack. its really positive, really harmonious, and really throws me into the ‘back in the days’ mode. my only hangup was that there was so much good stuff, and i couldn’t condense it into a small type of mix… so i made two. three, in fact. it’s comprised mainly of the r&b side of new jack, so no big daddy kane and rap of the like - i think cosmo baker came out with a hot new jack mix that incorporated all of that stuff, so look for that one. i’ve uploaded parts 1 and 2, but there is an extra special 1+2+3 extended mix, which clocks in shy of an hour and thirty minutes. it should suffice for long driving. i hope you all enjoy this as much as i enjoyed compiling it. not including a tracklist because you really should know all the songs.

i’ll be finishing up my internship here at buck, and i’ve gotta say it rocked my world. learned a shitload, met cool people, and it’s made me more aware of the things i can do in c4d/after effects. it’s really all just magician’s illusions. and staring at monitors all day and night. i’ll be starting school in two weeks which means i’ll have to pump out some mixes to keep you at bay while i’m (literally) giving away my soul to art center.

and some help.. i made this and i’ve been having second, third, fourth thoughts. it’s chill, but alicia’s vocals are very much not. it’s clashing.. but in a good way? bad way? i don’t know. advise.
amerie is.. before her time. or after. or back to the future or something. like i’ve complained about before, r&b’s current state of affairs is not as sweet as it was in the 90s, and i think amerie would fit in perfectly in that time. alternately, if she lost all her (famous) rich harris production and went all neo soul with some dilla or slum village beats, she’d still kill it imo. she’s coming with a new cd this year and benzi posted a sample.. and i’m lovin it already. and how can i not love, i totally blew up with the one thing blend. althouuugh, i will say that take control production-wise is great, but amerie don’t fit on it. sorry atari. this is amerie vs pharcyde/visioneers.
