more r&b gems from the ’90s. did you know mariah carey (who produced allure) did background vocals for this song? (and most likely a few other allure tracks?) you can hear her pretty well. but since i upped the pitch it might be harder to catch. they’re both over automator beats, because those are very sexy and i’m feelin em right now. i really dig the original allure track and also the remix which totally flips it. whatever happened to trackmasters remixes?

after some thread on the hollerboard, it really got me interested in the story of gary webb and how he uncovered cia links in the crack epidemic of the 80s, which ostensibly is collateral damage from contra fundraising. i’m reading the book that gary wrote right now, and it’s such a wealth of information that it’s taking me way long to read it. i probably should just return it to the library and buy a copy, because it seems like a good addition to a bare bookshelf. it’s also another level of ‘oh shit’ since i didn’t know anything about the iran contra affairs, and some and or most names are familiar-somehow related to iraq. history is great.
