oof. this one has been on the myspace for months already, before i left for vacation. i found the acapella and around that time i’d been obsessing over the original version of the song a lot (esp the video.. eddie murphy like what. p.s. why doesn’t that video have an entry on imdb?) and i really wanted to do something to the song. found the loop from a song by kick the can crew, some japanese hip hop that i adore so much, and that’s that. it’s mad chill. i need some more mj acapellas, he’s so awesome.
michael jackson - do you remember the time(siik remix)
this one has been sittin on the myspace for a MINUTE. it’s just laziness that i hadn’t put it up here sooner. like my friend virginia says, this was like two really favorite songs put together into one new favorite song. however i can’t really trump on john legend’s piano skill.. dance tonight was and still is goodie good. lucy pearl was really ahead of their time. the album is still fully listenable. i miss raphael saadiq like that. yes there is an issue where the song gets all non-trebly around 1:40. apologies.
john legend - ordinary people(siik remix)
i really like the original of this song. its very un-hiphop, i don’t know how to explain it, and it’s ass-shakin. i took it down a notch and put the somethin for the people track under it, goin for that 90s throwback as usual. i actually hit up amazon and bought the single just for the instru, and because i missed the song dearly. i actually had the single when it came out - i stole it from target. i used to steal singles all the time from there, just unwrap them from the paper casing and hope it didn’t get scratched in my pocket. and then i got caught. but i’m still ’stealing’ music, except i do it all sitting down! i love computers!
damn, can’t find the old music video of it on youtube (i did before), but it’s somethin for the people - my love is the shhh, for those not knowin.
lloyd - get it shawty (siik remix)
i remember buying timbo’s first cd. it was the shit back then. to be honest, i only bought it because of a ~girl~ ; she was like ‘have you heard the luv 2 luv u original?’ no? ‘it’s on the cd. you should get it.’ so i did. i really loved it, and since they had a few more singles off the cd, it didn’t lose its replay value super fast. i’d like to thank her, but i forgot her name. i remember she was really foine though. and she had a twin. damn, i messed that one up.
this is timbo on some electro that’s as socal as palm trees and morning traffic. whenever power 106 had their ‘aqua nets’ electro/freestyle mix session at 12 noon, i would try my best to tune in - bringing my walkman to school and then trying to listen to it while eating lunch lead to a few confiscations of said walkman - definitely worth it though.
timbaland - the way i are (siik remix)

mary j blige - under my real love(siik remix)
i don’t like how rihanna looks. she looks like a stegosaurus or a brontosaur or one of those dinosaurs we learned in like second grade. however, umbrella is so addicting, and the chris brown version is so so hot. ella ella EH EH EHHHH UNDA MY UMBARELLAH
this is probably one of my favorite music videos. especially the part where they’re at the house party and she’s rockin rough and tough with her afro puffs. in regards to her acting, i think that musicians can find it easy to transfer into film, using their same experience as a performer. however, i don’t think that all musicians can successfully act - as in, taking roles that aren’t modeled for them. right now all i can think of are rappers, but most i’ve seen (luda, xzibit, cube, mos, common, et al) are usually ‘that black guy’. (though luda has shown some decent pickings.) it’s hard for them to get a role that isn’t so stereotypical, and when that actually does happen, it’s going to make or break their cinematic endeavors. (the last few things mos def has done were bad, bad, bad.) maybe it’s just a problem of not enough films wanting to do that, or maybe they’re content with just being themselves on screen. but anyway alicia keys was foine in smokin aces.
alicia keys - you don’t know my name (siik remix)
other goodies:
justin timberlake - are you my love
better late than never. been on the myspace for a few months.
outkast minus ugk - international players anthem
the video to this song is so great. plus when is the new outkast gonna drop, it should be fucking bananas on bananas. all these songs andre’s been on lately are like major teasers for their own shit.
amerie is.. before her time. or after. or back to the future or something. like i’ve complained about before, r&b’s current state of affairs is not as sweet as it was in the 90s, and i think amerie would fit in perfectly in that time. alternately, if she lost all her (famous) rich harris production and went all neo soul with some dilla or slum village beats, she’d still kill it imo. she’s coming with a new cd this year and benzi posted a sample.. and i’m lovin it already. and how can i not love, i totally blew up with the one thing blend. althouuugh, i will say that take control production-wise is great, but amerie don’t fit on it. sorry atari. this is amerie vs pharcyde/visioneers.
amerie - talkin’ bout (siik remix)
when i first heard robin thicke it took me a few weeks to realize that his dad is alan thicke. my friend was saying that she heard that he’s being touted as better than jt, but i’m not so sure about that - he’s good and all, but jt is much better panty wetter. and he’s funny too. and he’s so over having a boy moustache, which apparently robin thicke isn’t. i havent given his cd a real good listen yet, just skipped a few tracks at work, and it ain’t bad. the beat is towa tei - let me know, which is a beautiful song as well. this blend is also summery.
robin thicke - wanna love you girl(siik remix)
