better late than never with an estelle remix. i wasn’t really a big fan of this song but it’s sorta grown on me.. i realized after making this one that kanye raps entirely way too long on it. i also slowed it down to 110ish because i’m trying to find more useful things around that bpm range. i’m actually really ocd about that stuff - when i make my mixes and/or sort stuff for a set i am looking at bpm first, song selection second. it’s nerdy, yeah.

my 17 year old cousin gives me shit for liking this song. i told her she’s trippin. even my 11 yr old cousins crack up when i start singing this. however, i’m definitely not crackin up when i hear them singin that ‘i kissed a girl’ song. ya’ll are tripppin. kids these days.. i’ve got this acapella on a few other things but this one is an ~omg~ with the ladies.

i gotta give it up to my dude benzi for this. he told me about it first a few weeks back and was asking me to play with it, but i wasn’t feelin it at first.. but after some repeated listens, i was all over it. i love the original, old school feelin beat and whatnot. plus the video is pretty sick too. plus, you don’t have to call is one of my fave neptunes beats.

i remember when i first heard this track. it was blowin up on the radio some time around 8th grade. i definitely thought she was white. it was sorta like booty bass but on a real mellowed out r&b tip. my cousin’s brother had the sosodef bass allstars cd and i was begging to borrow it. the cd casing was next level, it was tinted green like lego lasers pieces. it was so off the hook. also, it had corina - summertime summertime on it, which is THE DAMN JAM. although i didn’t know that corina ripped the song from nocera. the original is way sicker. and the original love you down is also sick. regarding my blend, my friend says it sounds like a beach at dusk. i think she’s right. when the daft punk cd came out i was like ‘wtf, this song is just a loop with a fadein and fadeout.’ well, it’s perfect for an acapella!

r. kelly is the shit, please believe. bump n grind, your body’s callin, gotham city(!?!?!), down low, i believe i can fly (!?!?!?!!?), contagious (!!), trapped in the closet series (lolol), ignition remix, in the kitchen (!!!!!), every remix he just randomly ends up on, etcetera, and so on and so forth, indeed. he makes amazing music. i slowed down step in the name of love and it made it very bbq-in-the-park-ready, but the weather lately hasn’t been that! it’s been cold as shit. weak shit. this is probably one of my more favorite r kelly tracks. it sounds even better slowed down further. i was trying to push for chopped and screwed r&b a few years ago, i think itll still work.

it’s funny listening to these lyrics. she’s really on the ‘im in space’ tip, calling out nasa and everything. at school we’re doing a fairly big deal project for nasa, the main focus is trying to get our generation to care about nasa again. i bet they’d get a kick out of this song. too bad they’re pretty corny. i’ll have something to show for that soon. also on the kelis tip.. the spot gotta be one of my more favoriter kelis beats. they’re all pretty sick anyway.
oof. this one has been on the myspace for months already, before i left for vacation. i found the acapella and around that time i’d been obsessing over the original version of the song a lot (esp the video.. eddie murphy like what. p.s. why doesn’t that video have an entry on imdb?) and i really wanted to do something to the song. found the loop from a song by kick the can crew, some japanese hip hop that i adore so much, and that’s that. it’s mad chill. i need some more mj acapellas, he’s so awesome.
